31 Aug Assess Your Coping Resources
Instructions
While the goal in emotion-focused coping is to try to immediately reduce the feelings of distress, the goal of problem-focused coping is to control or eliminate the actual source of the problem. For this assignment, you should review the article and your text to ensure that you understand the differences between the two types of coping. This assignment will provide you the opportunity to describe examples of these two strategies.
Specifically, for this assignment, you need to provide at least three examples each of emotional-focused and problem-focused coping that you use or would consider using. You may, for example, use diaphragmatic breathing exercises to reduce your stress levels, or you may analyze any faulty thinking or problematic actions that are causing the stress. You may also want to consider mindfulness.
For each technique you list, you need to provide a situation in which you utilized the technique. You then need to provide the outcome. The results should be provided as demonstrated in the form of a chart below. Your table should have a minimum of six entries.

I was driving on the highway and, suddenly, my car’s engine shut itself off. I was in the fast lane and cars were zooming by and honking their horns. All I could do was sit there and try to relax and hope that the patrol would pass by soon. |
I sat there for almost 30 minutes, but at least I remained calm. |
