Health and healthcare disparities (Researched argument)

Your goal for the researched argument essay assessment is to establish your position within the conversation you synthesized in the research review essay. An effective researched argument does more than just related information, and it goes beyond simply summarizing and reviewing articles or stringing together quotes from sources. An effective researched argument expresses a clear claim and supports that claim with distinct supporting points and evidence from scholarly and academic sources.

Your researched argument should persuade readers to see the legitimacy and logic of your position as a contribution to the conversation. You need to present your position in such a way that even readers who disagree with it can understand the reasons and evidence that support it.
Your essay should:
  • Establish the context of the conversation and the importance of the issue you are researching.
  • Address your audience of readers invested in the topic and who are possibly already participating in the conversation youve entered. You should imagine your audience as including your peer reviewers, and your assessors.
  • Use an effective rhetorical approach to reach the intended audience. Such an approach might include any or all of the following:
  • Convincing your audience to consider the validity of your position as a valuable contribution to the conversation.
  • Broadening your audiences perception of the topic by providing them with new information geared at shaping their understanding.
  • Clarifying your audiences understanding of the topic by taking their vague or common view of the subject in order to make it a more accurate reflection of the issue under discussion.
  • Advance a position on the issue by making a claim.
  • Support your claim with reasons supported by evidence.
  • Consider alternative positions or counterarguments relative to the conversation about the issue.
  • Conclude by synthesizing your key points and providing readers with ideas for further consideration.
  • Contain a minimum of five to seven scholarly or academic sources. At least two of your sources must be scholarly.
Follow the guidelines of a recognized documentation style (MLA) for in-text citations and the works cited page.
Be formatted in accordance with a recognized documentation style and be approximately five to six pages (1500 to 1800 words) in length.
The key rhetorical purpose of this assignment is to make a clear, original argument supported by multiple and credible research sources. Questions to keep in mind while writing your paper.
Has the writer expressed a focused argument or claim on a narrow topic? Is the argument consistent throughout the essay?
Has the writer supported that argument with clear, valid points that connect back to the main argument?
Has the writer developed the argument and supporting points with evidence from appropriate, relevant, and credible research sources?
Has the writer connected the evidence back to the supporting points and main argument?
Does the writer provide adequate textual evidence to support his or her synthesis?
I have included my previous paper for reference to build off of for this research argument paper.
