Unit 4 Discussion:
Once you have completed your “Layered Earth” Assignments, do some research and find out what types of rocks/minerals are found in your state. For Ohio, I looked at our Ohio’s Department of Natural Resources https://ohiodnr.gov/wps/portal/gov/odnr/discover-and-learn/rock-minerals-fossils/common-rocks (Links to an external site.) to find out what types of rocks and minerals are commonly found in and around Ohio. All states will have a similar Department of Natural Resources generally located in the capital of each state, and most will have an online website that you can search. You may also search the USGS United States Geological Services https://www.usgs.gov/faq/geology (Links to an external site.)for more information for your assignment. Discuss the rocks and minerals that are common in your state, apply what you now know about the continents original locations, weather/environment conditions, and the relationship between the rocks/minerals found today based on the conditions in the past and continental drift.
