Music Project: Music from My Family's Heritage 100 points Due December 4 All Sections

This project provides an opportunity to teach the class something about the music from your family's heritage. You may create a video presentation, an audio-only presentation or a written presentation, with audio links. (I will be happy to provide technical assistance with any media or uploads.)

Please include the following items in your project:

What type of music? Where does the music come from?

Who created this music? Was this music used for a particular purpose?

Who are the typical types of performers (singers, types of instruments, etc.)?

Are there particular characteristics about melody, rhythms, lyric content that are "required" for this type of music?

Please provide a representative musical selection–if it is vocal music, please include the lyrics and a translation, if necessary.

Student responses: You will be asked to list three things you learned about music from other cultures/heritages on your final exam. It is STRONGLY recommended you get your project
