Assessment Description
Authentic assessments offer advantages that traditional assessments and standardized testing do not. Most notably, they provide a close connection to classroom instruction. Utilizing authentic assessments with ELLs provides educators with valuable data to make instructional decisions and document students’ academic growth.
Create an 8-10 slide digital presentation for general education teachers on using authentic assessments with ELLs. In your presentation, include the following:
Describe authentic assessments and how they enhance instructional practices to meet ELL needs.
Identify 3-4 authentic assessments that support ELLs. Provide a description of each assessment, including the main goal and an example of what it would look like in the classroom. At least one authentic assessment must integrate the use of technology.
Discuss a minimum of three possible considerations when ensuring authentic assessments for ELLs demonstrate reliability and validity.
Presenter’s notes are required for each content slide. Presentation must include a title slide at the beginning, and a reference slide with documentation of sources at the end. The title slide and reference slide do not count in the total number of slides.
The digital presentation should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.
