Leadership style assessment.

Everyone has leadership traits in them, but it is up to a person to unlock their passion internally to gain the courage to tackle tasks that appear intricate, unpopular, and full of uncertainties. Leadership refers to attempting to influence the behavior and actions of followers using communications and aimed at the achievement of specific goals — the process of exacting influence that allows leaders to direct their followers to do what is required willingly. The leader has to discover the destiny of the organization and be courageous enough to follow the future.

Style assessment.

The Leadership Style Assessment found on the University of Kent website is a simple test that guides an individual to identify their leadership style. The series of questions highlight the different ways of tackling real common scenarios that enable the assessment of the leadership style (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). This assessment has assisted in my paper by helping me discover what type of leader I am, which is essential since it offers the foundation of my writing.

Perspective Style of Leadership

Transformational leadership refers to the approach of direction that results in a change in people as well as social settings. In its ideal nature, it generates a valuable and positive difference in the followers with the aim in mind of converting followers into leaders. When applied in its most authentic form, it involves motivation, morale, and the way the followers perform in different scenarios (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). These include creating a sense of connection between the self-identity sense of the followers as well as the objectives of the organization as well as its collective identity. This duty involves inspiring the followers and being their role model through challenging them to own their work in a high standard and also an understanding of the weaknesses as well as strengths of the followers. The leader, therefore, can summon the followers to tasks that they can best do; therefore, their performance is at optimal.

Effective use of Transactional Leadership

While transformational leadership achieves major and significant results, there are some setbacks with this style. In the attempts to make reforms and results at the workplace, transformation leaders sometimes lose focus because of their own needs, and interests. This scenario becomes difficult, and many leaders fail to achieve their goals because of the inability to maintain a pattern of motivation (Butt & Heiss, n.d.). At the existence of these selfish desires by the leader, there is difficulty in carrying out transactional leadership effectively.

Need to change the perspective style.

Transactional leadership requires to be used together with transformational leadership to retain the ethical demands of leadership. Even so, the effort of transformation aims at improving the morale of the employees and bringing the conducive atmosphere that they can develop under continuously.

Jung Typology

The Jung personality test is a test designed to measure n individual's preferences in how they relate and deal with other people. The analysis also estimates how an individual processes information, organizes themselves in life, and arrive at decisions. This test is on the HumanMetrics website, and it determines personality traits through personal questions (Weiler, Keller, & Olex, 2011). The system has sixteen different types of personality traits that differ according to the opinions given.

INFJ

Introvert Intuitive Feeling Judging (INFJ) is my personality as determined by the Jung typology. According to this system, I exhibit a lot of feelings more than other characteristics. People like me are often humanitarian and idealists. According to HumanMetrics, such people are doers and are dreamers as well (Butt & Heiss, n.d.). My personality makes me concerned about the way I relate with other people as well as the general state of humanity. I can express myself more on paper and can be of use in higher education as well as religious governance. I agree strongly with the HumanMetrics gauge.

Response to change

Despite this strong trait, INFJ's lose their patience and experience bouts of rage under conditions like torture and hurt. In case they are injured continuously, they can slam the door or walk out of a relationship to avoid more pain. Generally, I am a gentle person full of smiles, but when my intrinsic values are crossed, I can be quite outspoken (Like an anchor, M. 2014). When other people are hurt, I tend to defend and fight for them.

Leadership competency

Various leadership skills can be maintained as a leader who is competent in the position he or she holds. Some of these skills are essential to management because of communication, delegation as well as conflict management. In this paper, my focus is on conflict management.

Conflict Management

Conflict refers to a disagreement between two parties or individuals. Conflict management, therefore, is the ability to control differences between people. As a leader, consequently, it is essential to be able to control and manage conflicts in any organization and maintain order (Sonnentag, Unger, & Nägel, 2013).

Influence of INFJ personality in conflict management.

Because of my INFJ personality solving the conflict between other people is comfortable, fast, and simple. I am natural to anger and relaxed; therefore, it is possible for me to resolve other people's disputes efficiently.

Summary

My INFJ personality and my transformational leadership style assist in the ability to control and help the followers in working this out. I can work as part of teams since I am an idealist and a humanitarian. I am concerned with other individual's relationships, and it coincides with the conflict management skill about my personality. Therefore, my style of leadership involves working together with those who are under me and ensuring that they develop into a similar leader as well. In addition to my personality I am able to influence and guide people into finding out the greatest strength within themselves by being a transformational leader.
