Order Instructions
Create a 12-15 slide digital presentation for general education teachers explaining how to support ELLs culturally and linguistically. Include the following in your presentation:
Part 1: Foundation of Educational Rights and Equity Issues
Summarize and explain school, district, and governmental policies and legislation that affect ELLs’ educational rights. Discuss the importance of understanding these policies and legislation to advocate for ELLs as teachers.
Discuss how teachers can apply research and theories of cultural and linguistic diversity and equity that promote academic and social language learning for ELLs.
Part 2: Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Practices
Describe how building on the cultural background and experiences of students can better inform instruction, especially for ELLs.
Provide 3-4 engagement strategies that build on students’ home language and explain how they support the learning of ELLs.
Presenter’s notes are required for each content slide. Presentation must include a title slide at the beginning, and a reference slide with documentation of resources at the end. The title slide and reference slide do not count in the total number of slides.
The digital presentation should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.
