There are many misperceptions about what motivates us.  Listen to the Coaching for Leaders podcast with Dan Ariely.  What is your biggest takeaway?  Explain how this takeaway relates to how you have experienced or observed motivation or lack of motivation in the workplace.

Then, read the HBR article "How to Keep Your Team Motivated, Remotely."  Which of the positive motivators have you seen make the biggest difference?  Conversely, which of the three negative motivators have you experienced/observed result in lower work performance?  What could have made a difference?  (If you have not experienced remote work, you may apply the same principles to non-remote work.)
