1.  Discuss how you will feel if the literature selections on the required reading list do not align with your personal values and opinions. Describe strategies you can employ to overcome your personal biases and teach the required literature.

2.  Discuss the process of literature evaluation and the role of the teacher in the selection of literature at the district, school, team, and individual classroom levels. Include discussion of reasons why districts take the time to compile required and recommended reading lists for various grade levels and content areas.
