The first step in a recruiting process is understanding what makes an excellent teacher. Some researchers

indicate it is the teacher’s education, experience, or personal characteristics that makes an excellent

teacher. In your opinion, discuss what you think makes an excellent teacher.

The center director is responsible for ensuring new employees receive the information necessary for a

smooth transition to the work environment, including the specifics of the job. Discuss what takes place

during an orientation of new employees.

Teachers must be capable of multitasking and carrying out the required skills listed in their job

that directors can recruit for new staff. Can you think of another way to recruit new staff for your

child care program? Discuss which way you think is most effective to recruit new staff and

explain why.
