You will design a fitness facility as if you were starting your own business. Your design should include the following components:
1. Facility Structure and Layout
Facility Name
• Type of Facility: Decide the type of fitness center you want to create (e.g., traditional gym, boutique fitness studio, wellness center, sports-specific training center).
• Target Market: Identify who your primary customers will be (e.g., beginners, athletes, seniors, families). • Location: Choose a location and explain why it’s appropriate for your target market.
• Size and Layout: Describe the square footage, floor plan, and what equipment and areas will be included (e.g., cardio area, weight room, group fitness studios, locker rooms, outdoor space).
Create a basic diagram or blueprint of the layout. • Unique Selling Proposition (USP): What will set your facility apart from competitors?
2. Fitness Classes and Services • Group Fitness Classes: Create a schedule for group fitness classes. Include at least five different classes. For each, describe: • Name of the class • Target audience • Duration and frequency • Instructor qualifications • Equipment needed • Personal Training: Develop a personal training program, including: • Types of training available (e.g., one-on-one, small group, specialized sessions like injury rehab or sports performance)
• Pricing packages (session-based or monthly memberships)
• Additional Services: Include any extra services like nutrition counseling, massage therapy, child care, or wellness programs. Provide brief descriptions and costs.
• Class and Service Pricing: Create a pricing structure for your classes and services. Be specific, providing details for memberships, drop-in classes, and bundled packages.
3. Membership Pricing and Plans • Membership Tiers: Create three different membership tiers (e.g., Basic, Standard, Premium). For each tier, detail:
• Cost (monthly/annual)
• Services and access included (e.g., gym access, number of classes per week, special perks)
• Promotions and Discounts: Develop two promotions or discount options (e.g., student discounts, referral programs, holiday sales). • Rationale:
Explain why you chose these pricing strategies and how they fit with your target market and location.
4. Marketing and Outreach Marketing Plan: Describe how you will attract and retain customers.
Include:
Social media strategy/ Community engagement (events, partnerships) / Promotions (e.g., free trial periods, giveaways)
Customer Retention: Explain the methods you’ll use to ensure customer loyalty, such as member rewards programs, feedback loops, or regular check-ins.
Start-Up Costs: Provide an estimate of the initial costs to start your facility (equipment, lease, salaries, etc.).
Revenue Projections: Estimate your monthly revenue based on your pricing and membership structure. How many members will you need to break even?
