26 Mar Literary Analysis Guidelines
1. Your paper is 4-6 pages. If you do 4 pages, it must be 4 full pages.
2. You must have an introductory paragraph that ends with a clear argument about the short story. An example, “The two sisters, Maggie and Dee, have two very different views of tradition, and this can be seen in a, b, c, and d. You need to list your essay points.
3. You then use these essay points as the topic sentences for your paragraphs. You also need to have a quote from the text and 4-5 sentences of analysis on how your quote supports your topic sentence.
4. Paper must be double-spaced only and use Times New Roman and 12-point font
5. You must have a title that connects to your argument.
6. No outside sources
7. Paper is due on Mar. 23

Marriage and Women (“The Story of an Hour”
Sin and guilt (The Minster’s Black Veil)
Judgement from Community (The Ministers’ Black Veil)
Traditionalism ( Everyday Use)
Contrasting the two sisters.
