Imagine you are preparing for your first year of teaching. Your administrator has asked you to create a Quick-Start Guide to help teachers better understand and support students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms.
Review the student profiles below and create a guide that explains how you would support each student academically, behaviorally, and socially within the classroom environment.

Choose two students to profile and share information with their teachers.

Create a Teacher Quick-Start Guide that includes a section for each student profile above.
For two students, address the following:
Student Snapshot
· Summarize the student’s strengths, interests, and challenges.
· Explain how the disability may impact classroom performance.
Disability Understanding
· Identify the disability category.
· Explain the IDEA definition in your own words.
· Describe common characteristics associated with the disability.
Classroom Support Plan
Include:
· Effective instructional strategies
· Appropriate accommodations or modifications
· Classroom management or behavior supports
· Strategies that promote inclusion and peer relationships
Strength-Based Reflection
Respond to the following:
· What is one strength this student brings to the classroom?
· What is one misconception educators may have about this disability?
· What is one important reminder for teachers working with this student?
Your guide should be organized, professional, visually clear, and practical for teachers to use as a classroom resource.
